fast forward
13 MAY 2011
A small fast forward here. And my apologies for not keeping up recently, as spring has brought a series of events, some of them to big to explain well here, and others of which I'd just as soon save you the menial details. A few lines down here you'll find a couple shots of the “little room”, which received window trim, shades, and a number of other essentials. This was all prior to the arrival of a little something we call a baby...
Not by very much, but it was prior.
And then there he was... slightly shaken by all of the air that surrounded him, eight curious people all standing around as well. I can't imagine little Willy was happy about the scrambled eggs they served at the hospital either!
There's really nothing more that I can narrate as to our slightly long stay at the (very able) I.C.U. at Maine Medical Center. Here's something I scribbled down, on the day I realized he'd be coming home to field test all of the renovations to date:
Would you have gone
home on a Sunday,
and asked nothing else
if wind was so warm?
Good plans and coughs,
what better to lose--
on a day with small waves
my blues took off
From high in a dogwood
anxious in bloom
from what I could tell
from there in your room.
And radio song:
“Time to take her home
her dizzy head,"
your mother was wrong
To think you'd depart,
or save us the pain
of panic and thought
that preys upon hearts.
Then! nothing was left
but to say your goodbye
without hesitation
but slightly in debt,
On your mellow color,
tendons and lungs
drink deep this one,
fine day for another.

It's been quite a year for all manner of projects. And they have all turned out nicely! Especially this last little one.
