tub of lard
10 OCTOBER 2012
Adding to the list of stuff found in ceilings… this one was pretty
well buried behind the third-floor knee walls, under piles of fiberglass and cellulose insulation along the southwest eaves. Might make a nice wastebin. Or maybe just a great way to transport 50 lbs of lard.
Funny thing is, that lard, or "smalec" is one of the popular accompaniment to a table with traditional Polish cuisine. Made of course from leftover buoyant layers of pork or beef fat, and mixed with a bit of seasoning. Spread on some bread and with a beer (or four) it's not too bad at all. And the fat does offer some protection against getting bent all the way; come daylight the hangover will be milder as well.
I wonder how well it insulates, haha
